:: for full view, click on the picture again :: The TIME That Was . . . ...but not anymore Backlanes can really be intriguing. Many people tend to not wanting to pass by such a place wondering what things may lurk around the dark corners of such places, or merely because they don't find the need to do so. However, given the chance, you may find a treasure-chest full of stuffs to document. I was with a bunch of gear-heads photographying such backlanes in the heart of Kuala Lumpur when I stumbled upon this scene and took a photo of it. With the bunch knowing my specialty in 'making the strange familiar and the familiar strange,' they tried their hands at it as well but failed. When published on my website, a friend of mine from CNN showed his Time-Warner colleagues the photo, they couldn't help but laugh out loud all day as it showed so much sublime stories by just looking at it. Was there a tragedy that caused such wreck? Was there a happy ending to the stall that once sold the magazine? It truly was, to them, a time that stood still in this work. Keep 'making the strange familiar, and the familiar all the more stranger'... You'll get somewhere! Comments Comments Comments!!!!!!!! This minimalist approach has a deep sociological meaning to it, and society is what street photography portrays. A fantastically made frame, great eye Evan! (Featured by `Obsidian-Fox) Comments
Love the humour of the image. The moment you've captured makes you wonder, what happened here? Obviously the mystery is amplified by the fact that none of us can see beyond the edges of your picture.
I know what you're saying about back lanes. My photography is very rusty right now, but I used to love abandoned industrial estates and such-like, some of the stuff you'd find could be completely random.
